Description

A murine macrophage phagocytosing a Leishmania parasite. Macrophages derived from the bone marrow of a C57/BL6 mouse were co-incubated in vitro with Leishmania mexicana (WHO strain MNYC/BZ/62/M379) stationary phase promastigotes for 30 min. The cells were then fixed with glutaraldehyde, dehydrated in ethanol, critical-point dried and sputter coated with gold. The image was captured on a JOEL JSM-6390 scanning electron microscope. Magnification 5000.
